Imaginary Games
Imaginary Games is a participatory board game that uses 3D-printed object-symbols to spark storytelling, interpretation, and collaborative meaning-making. The project grows out of a long-term exploration of how narratives and abstract ideas can be translated into physical form, using imagery developed for Entities: A Field of Imaginary Games, and Oresteia.
The board game contains cards, a set of thirty-four
D-printed pieces, and an instruction sheet.
The players must respond to prompt cards using the objects-symbols to tell a story to the rest of the group.
First presented as part of Entities: A Field of Imaginary Games, at Glassell Gallery, Baton Rouge, LA, 2022.
Also featured in Five x Five, at Southern University’s Visual Arts Gallery, Baton Rouge, LA, 2024.
Re-worked with support from the Arts for EveryBody national initiative, organized by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, and presented at Kelly Community Center (formerly the Delmont Service Center), 2024.
