Emoji, Stop Scrolling!
DOCTOR OF DESIGN THESIS EXHIBITION
Emoji, Stop Scrolling! is an immersive fun-house installation inspired by icons and emoji.
This multimedia exhibition plays with metaphor and wordplay to explore how digital pictograms let us express ourselves beyond words. Everyday symbols dissolve into pixels, reappear in watercolor, and recombine as unexpected new images. Visitors are invited to step in, play along, and shape the show—by inventing titles, designing emoji, and composing their own visual phrases.
As an interactive installation, Emoji, Stop Scrolling! included mirrors, QR codes linking viewers to online activities and prompts, a studio space for collaging and painting pixelated images, the board game Imaginary Games, a Communal Scrolling event, an artist talk, and a performance with five artists from various disciplines.
The painting Do you remember that thing she used for her needles? With the red cushion? participated in the exhibition Good LSU MFA Alum Children, Good Children Gallery, New Orleans, LA, 2026
